Billing

Monthly vs Annual

Both monthly and annual billing cycles are available. Annual billing offers a discount compared to monthly pricing.

Per-Seat Pricing

Pro, Business, and Enterprise teams are billed per seat. Each active member in your organization counts as one seat, and the owner pays for all seats on a single subscription. When you invite a teammate, their access is covered by your team subscription from the moment they accept until they leave. Leaving a team revokes that coverage — individual users must hold their own subscription to retain paid-tier features outside of the team.

Seat counts update automatically: accepting an invitation increments the count, removing or losing a member decrements it, and every change is prorated on the next invoice through Stripe. No manual seat purchases or cancellations are required.

How to Upgrade

Upgrade from the /pricing page in the Zaru client or from the Upgrade button in The Colony billing tab. The upgrade flow redirects to Stripe's hosted checkout for secure payment processing. Your tier updates automatically once payment succeeds.

Managing Billing

Click Manage Billing in the Colony billing tab to open the Stripe Customer Portal. From there you can update payment methods, download invoices, switch between monthly and annual billing, and cancel your subscription.

Self-Hosted Deployments

Self-hosted and air-gapped deployments (Enterprise tier) do not use Stripe. Billing is disabled entirely — tier assignment is managed directly through the platform's identity provider or admin API. All billing-related endpoints return 501 Not Implemented when Stripe is not configured.
